01. THE AESTHETIC CONSULT
The aesthetic consultation is an opportunity to discuss your skin goals and areas of concern with our experienced doctors Dr. Marilyn Merola. During the consult, the doctor will assess your skin and provide you with a personalized microneedling protocol. This is also a great time to ask any additional questions you have about SkinPen microneedling.
02. THE SKINPEN MICRONEEDLING APPOINTMENT
An initial microneedling appointment in Encinitas is 60 minutes. Topical numbing cream is applied beforehand for 15-20 minutes. At Pure Health, we use platelet-rich plasma (PRP) with SkinPen microneedling. PRP is naturally rich in growth factors and is obtained from your blood in-office with a simple blood draw at the beginning of your appointment. A sterile needle cartridge with fine surgical-grade stainless steel needles is used during the treatment to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. Micro-injuries stimulate the body’s natural healing cascade, producing new collagen and elastin over the next 4-6 months. A single pass over each treatment area involves applying PRP first, then microneedling over the PRP. The doctor will perform 2-3 passes over each treatment area.
03. THE RESULTS AND MAINTENANCE
Immediately after the treatment, it is normal to experience redness similar to a mild sunburn. Downtime with SkinPen microneedling is 3-4 days but may vary for each individual. We recommend one treatment every month. Depending on your skin goals and concerns, the recommended number of treatments can range from 3 to 6 months duration. It will take 4-6 weeks for your body to produce enough collagen where you’ll start to notice a difference. Your body will continue to produce collagen for up to 6 months after your last session. Maintenance sessions are recommended 2-3 times a year.
